My Mom and sisters had a stop there on a cruise, they liked it but said it was kind of dirty compared to some of the other stops on the cruise.

Belize is BEAUTIFUL!! Once you get out of Belize City (where you fly into), it's just like any other tropical country. The interior is full of rivers and there are large portions that are thick jungle. The cayes (islands) are absolutely stunning! There, you can scuba dive, snorkle, and in any other way imaginable enjoy island life. On Caye Caulker there are no cars, just bikes or golf carts :-) The people speak english there, but there's also a high percentage that speak either spanish or belizean creole. It is much less humid than other Central American destinations.
It's a great place for a honeymoon. :-)
ALSO: To cut down on costs, you can fly into Cancun, Mexico, stay over night, and then take a bus down to Belize the next day. It's so much cheaper!! For the price of a plane ticket from LAX to Belize City, I had my entire trip plus airfare to Cancun...with some leftover.
